We will be inspired to create a persuasive letter based on our core text, "Izzy Gizmo". During the learning journey, we will be identifying how we persevere in our daily lives as well as writing a short reflection on how we can apply the values of perseverance and creativity in our daily lives.
This half term, we will be learning about place value. We will count and partition numbers to 100, identify numbers on a number line and compare and order numbers. We will then be counting in 2's, 3's 5's and 10's. After this we will be focusing on addition and subtraction, bonds to 10 and to 100 by identifying patterns and to add and subtract one from a given number.
We will be learning about living things and their habitat. During the half term, we will be identifying, grouping and classifying all objects which are dead, living and have never been alive. This will help us to identify the living and non-living things in a habitat and what these items need to survive to live in that habitat.
We will be learning about how the Suffragette Movement has impacted life today. To do this, we will identify who the significant women from the past were and how they fought for equality. We will demonstrate our understanding of equality as we step back in time to the suffrage movement in 1890-1919.
We will be learning about online safety and the uses of information technology in school and beyond.
We will identify the range of celebrations that are a part of different religions. We will be linking these to our own lives and comparing these with others and their religions. Throughout the half term, we will be tasting the foods that are eaten and reflecting on our belonging.
In PE, we will be exploring gymnstics. We will develop an awareness of obstacles and how to avoid them as well as balancing, jumping and travelling to create a sequence. This will then lead to how we combine movements both on and off the apparatus.
We will be continuing our learning journey from year 1 by sketching objects using shading techniques based on an inspirational artist called Jim Dine.
We will be focusing on identifying different musical instruments in a variety of songs, and also comparing and contrasting different styles of music.
We will be learning about how we control our emotions and feelings. In addition, we will learn that not all families are the same. We will identify unhappy relationships by comparing them to happy relationships and then we will learn about stereotypes.
