Our core text this term is “Can I build another me?” by Shinsuke Yoshitake. Children will begin by exploring the thoughts and feelings of the character in the book, before discussing our influences and skills in preparation for creating a fact-file about ourselves. The children will then be exploring our individuality and learning how to formulate ideas into a cohesive structure, in order to write their autobiography and reflect on what they have learnt.
In geography, we will be writing a letter to our local MP to suggest improvements which would make a positive impact to our area.
Children will consolidate their knowledge of place value this term in order to identify, estimate and order 4-digit numbers. They will then be using concrete, pictorial and abstract representation to be able to count forwards and backwards in steps of 50 and 100. As the term progresses, we will be using arrays to solve multiplication problems. Towards the end of term, children will be exploring how decimal numbers can be partitioned as well as rounding decimal numbers to the nearest whole number. They will then be using these skills to add and subtract different amounts of money.
In science, we will be exploring states of matter in order to explain the difference between a solid, liquid and gas.
In art, we will be exploring the art work of David Hockney in order to create our own self portrait using digital photography.
In French, we will be exploring the names of family members to create a mini book.
In R.E, we will be exploring Hinduism and exploring important symbols and their significance.
In R.S.H.E we will be exploring physical and emotional boundaries in friendships. We will also explore different types of families.

Our core text this term is “Holes" by Louis Sachar. The children will explore the actions and motives of the main character in the book, before writing a diary exploring his journey. We will then look at propaganda and persuasive features to create a persuasive speech about the impact of child exploitation.
In geography, we will be exploring waterways to explore their importance for trade within the UK and to the rest of Europe.
In science, we will be exploring living things in order to classify them according to observable characteristics. We will then be observing and grouping species in a range of ecosystems.
In art, we will be exploring the work of Leisa Rich to create 3D sculptures and creating canvas art based on our chosen images.
In French, we will be exploring patterns and sounds through a range of sounds. We will then be exploring the months of the year and the names of animals.
In R.E, we will be exploring the importance of the Jewish synagogue and it's importance to individuals and the community.
In RSHE, we will identify different forms of love and commitment and compare features of healthy and unhealthy relationships.

In maths, we are exploring fractions and the children will be adding and subtracting fractions. Later in the term, we will be looking at area and perimeter and using reasoning skills to solve word problems.
