Task

WHAT IS THIS PROJECT ABOUT?

Drugs are chemicals that affect the body and brain. Different drugs can have different effects. Some effects of drugs include health consequences that are long-lasting and permanent. They can even continue after a person has stopped taking the substance.

Today, more than 7 million people suffer from an illicit drug disorder, and one in four deaths results from illicit drug use. In fact, more deaths, illnesses and disabilities are associated with drug abuse than any other preventable health condition. People suffering from drug and alcohol addiction also have a higher risk of unintentional injuries, accidents and domestic violence incidents. But are teenagers aware of these consequences?

Meet a classmate for this project and become activists. How can you make teens aware of the risks of substance abuse? Can you think of ways of teaching them the consequences of drug taking?

Work in pairs to carry out this task: to design a leaflet, a short video, a rap, a magazine or Internet-based article for teens on a specific substance that it is particularly popular among teenagers.

One of you will be the organiser. Your role is to make sure all your work is well organised in your Drive(R); the work is done by the dateline and that you are always on task.

The other one will be the checker. Your role is to make sure English is used most of the time and that both of you contribute to the final task.

Enjoy the adventure!!!!
