Join us for a comprehensive tutorial on Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT), a powerful non-invasive technique for conductivity mapping of 2D and thin-film materials. The tutorial combines experimental best practices with advanced mathematical methods, offering a solid foundation for researchers and professionals who want to apply ERT in materials science. The first part focuses on practical aspects of experimental ERT: implementing in-contact electrical measurements on thin films using custom fixtures; comparing measurement protocols and their trade-offs; and optimising instrumentation for speed and accuracy. The second part covers the mathematical framework, from forward modelling based on partial differential equations to solving non-linear inverse problems with modern numerical methods. Hands-on examples will illustrate the computational tools required for effective conductivity mapping in realistic scenarios. This tutorial is intended for researchers and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of ERT and its applications in materials science.

For the fourth season, "Cocktail di Scienza" the web show of scientific entertainment produced at INRIM, the National Institute of Metrological Research, returns on air. There are four online appointments to enjoy a science-based aperitif with our researchers and delve into the diverse world of metrology, the science of measurement. In each episode, we will guide you in discovering some of the areas where metrology finds application, such as environment, energy, health, nanotechnologies, space, and basic research. An opportunity for discovery, in-depth exploration, and fun!
