About Miss Shelton

Hello! 

My Name is Miss Shelton. I am so excited to be here at Independence! This is my 2nd year teaching. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and spent some time Substitute Teaching before making a home here at Indee.

My fiancee and our 4 girls live in Cedar Rapids but plan to move locally soon! In my free time, I love to watch all kinds of sports. Basketball and football are my favorite! GO PATS! GO CUBS!

I also enjoy coaching. I have spent 12 years coaching for Special Olympics Iowa. (Pic of my softball team below) 

My teaching philosophy is to help students be the best person they can be! I set expectations and goals for myself and the students so we can hold each other accountable to a high level of growth. We are a team!
