The rise in automation is costing our communities and threatens our survival. As it stands, having a job to and labor to receive income is necessary for one to survive: to pay our bills, to feed our children, and keep a roof over our heads, but people are facing the impact of job disruption from AI faster than expected and it's only getting worse.

These AI Companies are stealing our human knowledge, our skills, and our labor and there's no action for us being compensated.
We must demand our government intervene and provide The People with an AI Dividend.

Writing a Letter to the Editor of your local news publication is an important way to connect with readers across you community. Focusing your letter on AI and the impact on jobs and your community is an opportunity to educate people and help them understand the urgency for action. Urging journalists and elected to take action is critical. Thanks for digging into this important conversation.

Most publications have a word count limit for LTE submissions. Try to keep it under 150 words!
Find an article in the publication you are submitting to about AI, or jobs reports or data centers - something relevant, and then reference that in your letter.
Make the ask clear: who are you asking to take action, and what do they need to do? In the template, the ask for the newspaper is to more effectively cover the topic of AI and the ask for elected officials to prioritize basic income.
If appropriate, personalize the LTE - what is your own experience to connect to the topic. Are you worried about your child being able to get a job when they are an adult?
Connect readers to the report or other resources for learning more - if they are inspired by your letter, give them more!
