COLLECT SIGNATURES ON YOUR CITY PETITION.

When people sign the petition, they are indicating that they support Guaranteed Income. The goal is to collect signatures and with the support of Income Movement, deliver them your mayor so they can see wide support.

As we slowly open back up there are now some opportunities to collect signatures IRL (in real life). Income Movement has a signature collecting Template

TOOLS:

• Share your city's digital petition link: Find your city's petition here. Don't see your city on the map? Contact Stacey with Income Movement at stacey@incomemovement.com to get started or you can read the Step by Step Guidelines to setting up a petition here.

• Use this Template to create a petition signature collecting sheet for your city IRL (In Real Life and on the ground). You can then go out into your community and collect signatures. Events like farmers markets, street fairs, summer BBQ’s and other community events are great places to ask for signatures and engage with supporters and potential supporters.

• Use this Guaranteed Income 101 Fact Sheet to help others understand, support, and sign your petition.

Ask your allies, your family, and your friends to share it with their networks as well. Share your personal experience and desire to see Guaranteed Income in your city and the importance of your Mayor publicly supporting Guaranteed Income. Your goal at the end of every interaction is for people to take action right then.

One of the most powerful tools we have is Social Media (SM). In order to maximize your reach, using different platforms can help you gain support, petition signatures, and help your Mayor notice the energy coming from their constituents. We suggest using Hashtags like #JoinMGI and #[your city] along with @income_movement and your @[your Mayor]. This helps to bring eyes to your pressure and will help in your campaign.

• Create a Social Media campaign that will work for your city and your bandwidth. Here is a tool kit for you to map out what that can look like. • Please let Income Movement know by reaching out to Kimberly at kimberly@incomemovement.com you will be mounting a concentrated SM campaign effort. We would love to rally the community to boost and support you.

Building a SM campaign is a valuable way to not only engage your community around some of the other actions you are organizing, but can itself be a way to have your community directly communicate with your mayor’s office and get guaranteed income and MGI on their radar.

What is guaranteed income? A guaranteed income is a monthly cash payment given directly to individuals. It acts as an income floor to make sure no one gets left behind, even in times of crisis. What can you do to help? Small business owners like you can have a huge impact in influencing city leadership to help their communities. 2: ATTEND A CITY COUNCIL MEETING AND PRESENT ON GUARANTEED INCOME

• Share what Guaranteed Income is and why it is important to you
