Villa "il Gioiello" is the historic home of Galileo Galilei, where it spent the last years of his life, confined to house arrest by the condemnation of the Holy Office of 1633.

The Villa is a National Monument since 1920, it belongs to the State Property, historical and artistic sector, under the management of the University of Florence, which, through the University Museum System. Nowadays the Villa can be visited through appointement as a museum and it hosts small conferences and seminars organized by the researchers of the Arcetri Observatory (National Institute for Astrophysics).

By Public Transport
To reach the venue from Porta Romana take the bus number 38B, direction "Pian dei Giullari". Your stop is "Pian dei Giullari". The timetable of the bus can be found here.
From the Observatory
Some of the LOC people will directy come by foot from the Arcetry Observatory (~10 minutes walk). If you plan to arrive at the observatory before the meeting (the address is Largo Enrico Fermi 5, on the top of the Arcetri hill), let us know and we will go together.

How to reach the venue or city center from the Airport
From the Florence Airport A. Vespucci you can easily reach the city center taking the tram T2 (see here for the tram map and information). You will see the tram stop on your left side when you go out from the arrival terminal of the airport, you just need to walk for ~100 meters. At the tram stop there is an automatic machine to buy thickets. From the airport to the center (the stop "Alamanni-Stazione") it takes around 20 minutes.
From the city center you can reach Porta Romana or Arcetri by bus, please check here the bus you need depending on your destination.
Of course you can also take a taxi directly outside the airport (on the right side in this case) to reach your destination. The cost from the airport to Porta Romana/Arcetri is ~35 euro.
If you need a taxi when you are in the city, you have to reserve it in advance by calling specific numbers (of via phone apps), e.g. 4242 or 4390. From the central Tain Station or outside the Porta Romana square, you might find available taxis in their dedicated park (not very usual).
