Spritz is a simulation to create mock catalogs for current and future facilities operating at, but not limited to, infrared wavelengths.
The simulation is built from a set of luminosity functions at near and mid-infrared wavelengths (Herschel and K-band) and a galaxy stellar mass function, to cover a large variety of galaxy populations. It is based on a broad set of empirical relations, which allow for associating different physical properties to each simulated galaxy. The resulting mock catalogs include both galaxy and active galactic nuclei and are consistent with a large variety of observations, including the stellar mass function, the stellar-mass vs star-formation-rate plane, luminosity functions and number counts from X-ray to radio.
The outputs include both photometric and low-resolution spectroscopic mock observations with realistic sky position.
