The first EREBUS collaboration meeting happened in February 2017 in Pasadena (USA). Astrophysicists studying the search for and characterization of high-redshift quasars gathered to prepare Early Release Science (ERS) proposals for the forthcoming first observations with JWST. More meetings happened at the Ringberg Castle (Germany) in March 2020 and October 2022 in preparation for the JWST Cycles 1 and 2; in Tucson (USA) in October 2023 for JWST Cycle 3; and in Hilo (USA) in September 2024 in preparation to the JWST Cycle 4 call for proposals. Thanks to these community efforts, the EREBUS team gained a leadership position in the exploitation of JWST in the study of high-redshift quasars, with many programs approved throughout the cycles. In Cycle 3, the EREBUS collaboration expanded its horizons to the study of more typical galaxies at high redshift, building on the experience achieved on quasar fields. In particular, the collaboration secured a Large Treasury Program, called COSMOS-3D, which provides slitless spectroscopic coverage of a large fraction of the COSMOS extragalactic deep field.
The sixth meeting of the EREBUS collaboration aims at discussing the data handling and scientific exploitation of the on-going campaigns, and to plan future large initiatives with JWST.
