Chopin Airport (WAW): The main airport, located very close to the city. Take the SKM train (Line S2 or S3) or Koleje Mazowieckie (RL) directly to Warsaw City Center (Warszawa Centralna / Warszawa Śródmieście). The trip takes about 25 minutes. Alternatively, take Bus 175.
Modlin Airport (WMI): Located 40 km away. Take the dedicated airport shuttle bus to the Modlin train station, then the Koleje Mazowieckie train to Warszawa Centralna. FlixBus also operates direct coaches.
Train: Arrive at Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central Station). It is in the heart of the city and a 15–20 minute walk from IMPAN.
Taxis & Ride-Hailing: Official taxis and ride-sharing apps operate city-wide. Reliable options include Ele Taxi(the official partner at Chopin Airport), iTaxi, FreeNow, Uber, and Bolt.
By Metro: Take the M1 (Blue Line) to Metro Politechnika. IMPAN is a 5-minute walk from the station. (Warsaw has tow Metro line with a single meet stop; the otehr one is the red line M2)
By Tram: The closest tram stops are Plac Politechniki, Plac Zbawiciela, and Plac Konstytucji (Constitution Square).
By Bus: Multiple bus lines service the area. You can get off at the major Plac Konstytucji bus hub or Metro Politechnika. Both are a 3–5 minute walk to IMPAN.
From Central Station: You can easily walk (approx. 1.5 km straight south) or take Tram 15 from Dworzec Centralny to Plac Politechniki (3 stops), followed by a short walk.
The "Jakdojade" App: It is the definitive tool for public transit routing and purchasing mobile tickets in Poland.
Ticket Prices (Zone 1): IMPAN and the entirety of central Warsaw fall within Zone 1. Ticket is tiime-based, so changing the means or the vehicle does not matter.
20-minute ticket: 3.40 PLN
75-minute ticket: 4.40 PLN
24-hour ticket: 15.00 PLN
Purchasing & Validation: Buy paper tickets at street kiosks, metro stations, and machines inside most buses and trams (which accept contactless cards). If you buy a paper ticket, you must validate it in the yellow machines immediately upon boarding. If using an app, validate the ticket by scanning the QR code inside the vehicle. Note that not all bus or tram stops have a ticket-purchase machine. But all metro stations do have one.
IMPAN is located in Śródmieście Południowe (Southern Downtown), a central adn well-connected area.
Closest/Practical (Mid-range): Hotel MDM at Plac Konstytucji. It is literally a 3-minute walk to IMPAN.
Upscale: Nobu Hotel Warsaw or H15 Boutique Hotel are both highly rated and under a 10-minute walk.
Budget/Extended Stay: Look for short-term rental apartments around Plac Zbawiciela, Koszykowa, or Marszałkowska streets. Oki Doki City Hostel is a reliable budget option located slightly further north.
