Conference on Constructive Approximation of Functions 4

in honour of Professor Wiesław Pleśniak's 80th birthday

 Warsaw, June 25-28, 2024

The general theme of the meeting concerns various aspects of complex analysis, especially: approximation theory, numerical analysis, constructive theory of functions, pluricomplex analysis, (pluri)potential theory, polynomial properties. Another important aspect of the CAF meetings, previously held in Będlewo 2014, Tarnów 2021 and Kraków 2023, is to promote the creation and maintenance of contacts with scientists from diverse research centers.

Professor Wiesław Pleśniak is an internationally renowned researcher in the field of real and complex analysis and the approximation theory. He authored over 50 papers published in international journals and since 1988 has acted as an editor of Annales Polonici Mathematici (in 2006-2017 he was the chief editor). He was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Jagiellonian University (1981-84) and the Head of Doctoral Studies in Mathematics there (1998-2008). Elected a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1996 and an actual member in 2020. A corresponding member of the Société Royale des Sciences de Liège since 1994. Elected a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Science in 2007 and an actual member in 2019. In 2003 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Université du Sud-Toulon-Var. He promoted 7 doctorates. The invited speakers of our conference will cover a broad range of Professor Pleśniak's interests.

The conference will be held at the Banach Center - Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw at 8 Śniadeckich Street.

The conference was supported by the Jagiellonian University (UJ), Excellence Initiative - Jagiellonian University (ID.UJ) and the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMPAN).
