Confidential Advocates are:
NOT mandatory reporters
Dedicated to survivor-centered support
Employed by certified survivor-serving organizations who have built partnerships with PPS
Conscious of intersectional oppression
Compassionate listeners
Creative brain storms
Non-judgmental and flexible
Committed to supporting you how you want to be supported, respect your boundaries and are honest with you.
Some things Advocates can do (at your request):
Hold space for your feelings
Listen, offer support, and provide information
Explore possible options to seek respite, healing, and justice
Co-create a plan to help you feel as safe as possible
Refer you to services for more emotional support, medical care, or other resources
Help you file a report and navigate systems/processes
Build skills to understand and cope with trauma
Strategize how to talk to friends, family, or administration about your experiences and needs
Advocate on your behalf or communicate things to other people for you
Accompany you to appointments, meetings, or hearings
