During this first year of GEP, we decided to create and implement learning activities for our students in 3rd of ESO, bearing in mind the teaching units planned for the entire scholar year. We thought that it would be interesting to challenge our students with the following tasks:
During the 2nd term we learnt and used some of the basic tools not to get lost when you go hiking or visiting new cities abroad, such as the map or the compass. We also discovered Wikiloc, a helpful app when it comes to orienteering.
The first task was an orienteering race in the school yard. Students in groups of four had to follow some courses in order to find the right cone. Therefore, it was a good opportunity to show what they had learnt about the use of the compass. Besides, once they found the right cone, they had to answer a question regarding the map key or the parts of the compass.
The second activity was an orienteering race all over the town of Montbui. Students were given a hand-out with a hint for each waypoint to find, and also its location on a map. To prove that they had found the waypoints, they were required to take a selfie of the group all together with the waypoint.
After a few sessions practising the main badminton strokes and their aims, students were given an assessment grid in order to deliver a proper feedback to their group mates.
The second activity was about analizing a game. Students used a hand-out to check on their mates skills. Afterwards, they used the information gathered to write a report about the game. For this report, they were suggested to use the app Canvas to enhance their presentations.

Students figured out how to use the App wikiloc. They used it to record the tracks and share the links with the teacher.
Pupils used Canva to creat a sports report about a badminton match.
