Think of the posts as part of a larger conversation. Write in complete, original sentences; be sure to proofread and evidence college-level academic writing.
Share content that clearly demonstrates your understanding of the course material; feel free to include personal insights and/or real-life examples.
Ideal posts would include applications beyond the assigned reading. Enhance your message with researched external sources, sharing articles, multi-media and images to support your post. i.e., scholarly articles, or YouTube videos.
Properly cite any references from either your course materials or external sources in APA format.
Remember to write succinctly, i.e., in a brief and clearly expressed manner paying attention to fully respond to all questions. Questions left unanswered may impact your score for that discussion.
Consider using programs such as Word first; save this file to your computer or USB flash drive. Attach the file or copy and paste the text into the message area of the Discussion Board. Should there be an interruption in your Internet connection, you will not lose any work.
Observation of "Netiquette" - There are behavioral expectations for posting. Being thoughtful and respectful includes an awareness of netiquette, and overall, facilitators and students are required to:
Approach every person with respect
Discuss issues and not personalities
Co-create, as a community of students, an environment conducive to learning
Where you are welcome to include the original question in your initial post or reply, these are not included in the word count.
Posts should be substantive and go beyond “I agree or disagree” or “I see your point” and must offer content to validate the comment further;
Messages posted in the course discussion forums are public messages; remember that all writings in this area will be viewable by the entire class or assigned group members. If you need to connect privately with the course instructor, please do so using email or messaging within the course, not the discussion boards.
