The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a special opportunity for Catholics to tell God we are sorry for our sins and receive His forgiveness, leading to eternal life in Heaven. Through this Sacrament, we are reminded of God’s endless love for us, given grace to make better choices, and grow deeper in our relationship with Him.
As we learn about Reconciliation, I encourage you to talk with your child about the Sacrament and various terms that go along with it, such as conscience, temptation, sin, repentance, mercy, forgiveness, absolution, penance, etc. These conversations will help encourage your child to make this a meaningful and common practice in their relationship with God.
In addition, please have your child practice and memorize the Act of Sorrow prayer, as they will need to say it aloud to a priest during the Sacrament.
Their First Reconciliation will take place on November 17th. 2026 @ 6:30pm in Immacolata's church.
This is a very personal Sacrament, so we ask that it is limited to only your 2nd grade child and his or her parents.
Attire for the Sacrament is any nice church clothes - i.e. simple dresses, sweaters, button ups, dress pants, etc.
