Primary Engineer is a not-for-profit organisation offering primary schools CPD and resources to support the delivery of design and make activities taught through practical Mathematics, Science and Design Technology activities.
The programme is designed to inspire and enthuse primary students and designed for all year groups mapped to the curriculum. All projects are linked to practicing engineers to provide a real-world context to the project.
The programme is intended to stimulate pupils’ interest in areas of engineering and encourage them to take an inquisitive approach in other STEM subjects. Programmes include teacher training, interactive and paper-based resources, local and regional competitions.
Following the hugely successful launch of Primary Engineer in Scotland last year and the interest gained we require engineers to partner with local schools throughout Glasgow & SW Scotland. Particularly in East, North and South Ayrshire Councils as all Primary Schools in the region have registered.
Primary Engineer is inviting engineers to attend the training sessions where they will gain a greater understanding of the programme and resources whilst working alongside the teachers on the practical tasks.
Following on from this we hope that the engineers will be able to visit the schools and work with the students in the practical activities.
This is also a great way to raise the awareness of engineer opportunities in the local communities whilst raising the profile your organisation. It can also be used as part of the apprenticeship and graduate development schemes.
