My name is Ms. Boatman and I am excited to be your child's Science Teacher this year! I was born and raised in N. Charleston, SC. I attended Johnson C Smith University and Pfeiffer University in NC where I received a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Masters in Health Administration. Prior to working in education I worked in Quality Assurance as an investigator and auditor. I have two (kind of adult) children, my daughter is 23 and my son is 20.
This is my sixth year at IL Texas. I started my Eagle journey as an Instructional Aide for 7th grade and was then asked to long-term sub for 6th grade Social Studies. My experience as a long term substitute actually inspired me to obtain my teaching certification. My second year at IL Texas I was the 6th grade Instructional Aide. Along with this role I taught 6th grade Science Fitness WIN (review of 5th grade TEKs) and also worked with EB students during enrichment. This is my 4th year teaching 8th grade science.
I am happy to teach a subject that I truly love and I hope to share my love and excitement of science with every student this year!

Helpful Tips:
All notes and assignments are posted on Google Classroom, with exception to Labs.
We will use a program called SAVVAS. Most of the reading material is housed in SAVVAS and can be translated into multiple languages.
