LDHS School Counseling
Greetings! I am Mrs. Carter and I have served as the School Counselor for LDHS for almost 8 years.
My role is to make sure that our students are on track for graduation academically, as well as guide them in learning emotional regulation and other soft skills that are essential to be successful. Partnerships with students, parents, and teachers are important to me. Success looks different for every individual, and I want to make sure that I help foster a mentally healthy mindset to support student success.
About me
My journey started in Dallas, TX in Dallas ISD as a graduate of Kimball High School in the 1900s :) It was then that I wanted to be a counselor of some sort, but I just didn't know what kind of counselor.
I continued to Louisiana Tech University where I studied Sociology and ran track, as well as participated in other clubs. Years later, after entering education as an elementary teacher in 2008, I decided to pursue my goals again and get my Master's in Education with a focus on School Counseling from Lamar University.
In the near future, I plan to become a Licensed Professional Counselor so that I can focus solely on mental health. I have been married for over 20 years and am a mother to 3 young men and pittie named Teddy.
