Originally founded at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2015, AMPS stands on the principles of providing professional development & supporting academically and socially historically underrepresented groups in political science.
Revamped in Fall 2023 by Paul Rampersaud, Kamren Mason-El, Ethan Thuo, Alisha Thomas, and Katha Patel, AMPS is one of the few RSOs at UIUC catered to meeting the specific needs of students studying and/or interested in political science.
AMPS is led by a collection of some of the most driven and passionate political science students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Our Executive Board members have extensively worked in policy in Washington, D.C. alongside Members of Congress, facilitated partnerships with the university's cultural houses, been awarded prestigious scholarships, and so much more. Every one of our Executive Board members hopes to help AMPS become a community where minority students can reach out for anything they need during their academic journey.

We hope to help support you throughout your undergraduate experience as best as we can while maintaining a flexible RSO schedule to accommodate everyone's varying responsibilities. Because we want AMPS to be a place where all are welcome, there is no application process to join. Just show up to one of our meetings, and meet the AMPS community!
