Do you have an eye for design? Perhaps you would rather compete in an essay contest sponsored by IJAS? Either way, the Illinois Junior Academy of Science offers something for every student! All students whose schools are members of IJAS are eligible to participate in the contests below, in addition to the traditional poster and paper sessions.

For students who prefer to show their creativity through their writing, the IJAS Essay Contest allows students to explore a topic of their choosing in an essay related to the essay theme. The 2025 theme is “Impossible to I'm Possible: Progress Bit by Bit.”

Scholarship
IJAS also offers scholarship opportunities to current high school seniors! The 2023-2024 deadline to apply was April 8, 2024. More information can be found here.
