Advanced Colloid and Interfacial Engineering Laboratory

WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE OF OUR RESEARCH GROUP

As a colloids & interfacial engineering research group, we are constantly endeavoring to address the problems related to self-assembly of patchy colloids, Janus colloids, water-in-water Pickering emulsion, emulsification in turbulent flow, synthesis of spherical and non-spherical microcapsules, physics of phase separation of bio-polymers, active colloidal clusters and colloidal chains, Langmuir-Blodgett isotherm study, synthesis of nano and micron-sized particles, advanced functional materials, and removal of environmental contaminants from pharmaceutical and personal healthcare products using nano/micromotors. Recently, we have established a colloid and interface science research lab at IIT Ropar (Transit campus).

Currently, six Ph.D. research scholars are working under my guidance.  We are looking for suitable candidates interested in pursuing a Ph.D. to carry out the following projects.

1. Building nano-capsules using water-in-water nano-emulsions (aqueous two-phase systems) stabilized by the self-assembly of oppositively charged biopolymer-based nanoparticles. Funded by SERB under the scheme of CRG.

2. Preparation of Pickering nanoemulsion (w/w) as a nanocarrier for drug delivery applications.

3. Emulsification in turbulent flow.

4. Waste-to-energy.

5. Energy efficiency.

6. Synthesis of spherical and non-spherical colloidal particles and capsules.
