PhD Students
Anchal Verma born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her Bachelor's in chemistry (Hons) from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, in 2022, and was awarded a Gold Medal. In 2024, she successfully completed her Master’s degree from IIT Mandi, wherein she worked on the “Post-Functionalization through Covalent Modification of Organic Counter Ions: A Step-wise and Controlled Approach for Polyoxometalate-based Carbon dioxide conversion.” She joined NanoTech Lab in IIT Ropar in October 2025 as a PhD Student.
Her current research focuses on the “Design and Development of Gold Nanobipyramids and Dye based Nano-hybrids for Enhanced Sensing Applications: Theoretical and Experimental Approach.”
Irfan Ahmad Fani, born in Mendhar, Jammu. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from Central University of Jammu in 2022, and he successfully obtained his Master's degree in Chemistry in 2024 from IIT Mandi, where he worked on his Master's thesis under the guidance of Prof. Prem Felix Siril titled "Polypyrrole / ZIF-8 nanocomposite as an adsorbent for water purification using continuous flow." He joined NanoTech Lab in January 2025.
His current research focuses on "Understanding the Anisotropic growth of metal nanoparticles."
Miteshkumar Moirangthem born in Manipur, India. He completed his undergraduate studies at Kohima Science College Jotsoma (KSCJ), Nagaland University in 2019, earning a Gold Medal in Chemistry. In December 2022, he successfully obtained his Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Manipur University, where he was honored with a Gold Medal and the prestigious Governor's Gold Medal for his outstanding performance in the Master's degree program on his thesis titled "Heterogenous Catalysis of Knoevenagal Condensation products using Thioproline-Metal Catalyst," showcased his expertise in the field. Following his academic achievements, he was awarded the DST-Inspire fellowship in March 2023. Subsequently, in July 2023, he joined NanoTech Lab as a Ph.D. student at IIT Ropar.
Currently serving as an Inspire fellow, his research focuses on "Simulation and synthesis of nanomaterials for Atmospheric Water Harvesting (AWH) using Molecular Dynamic Simulation."
Apart from his PhD thesis, he is working on other projects: Coating materials, Drug Delivery, Catalysis, Battery, etc., where he uses his expertise on Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulation and Density Functional Theory (DFT) to explain various experimental and physical phenomena.
Kush Kumar, born in Jehanabad, a small town near Patna in Bihar, graduated in 2019 with a degree in Chemical Engineering from NIT Bhopal. Following his graduation, he gained practical experience at HMEL Bhatinda Refinery for 1.5 years in the SRU (Sulfur Recovery Unit). In 2021, he joined NCL, Pune (National Chemical Laboratory) as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for another 1.5 years on a project. After which, he transferred to NanoTech Lab at IIT Ropar in July 2023.
His research focuses on "Origin of chirality in Nanobipyramids."
Apart from his PhD, he is working on other projects: Coating materials, Metal nanoparticles, Battery Applications, etc., where he uses his expertise on Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulation and Density Functional Theory (DFT) to explain various experimental and physical phenomena.
Anjana Barange belongs to a small village called Jamthi, District Amravati from Maharashtra state in India. She graduated in Chemistry (2017) from Mahatma Fule Arts, Commerce & Sitaramji Chaudhari Science Mahavidyalaya, Warud, Dist - Amravati, which is the branch of Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati. She received a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, in 2019. In August 2020, she joined NCL, and in March 2022, she joined Dr. S K Meena's research group. She is currently based in NCL - Pune.
Her research focuses on "Molecular dynamics simulation of lipid-based nanoparticles for drug/gene delivery."
