A. Consumables Needed : Liquid Nitrogen etc.
B. Specifications : Can measure energy required to break the sample upto 300 Joule & Charpy sample size should be (55x10x10) mm.
C. Description :
The Charpy test Machine determines the material's toughness or impact strength in the presence of a flaw or notch and fast loading conditions. This destructive test involves fracturing notched impact test specimens with a swinging pendulum at a series of temperatures. With the help of this machine, the amount of energy absorbed during fracture can be measured. The Charpy V notch test specimens (55 mm × 10 mm × 10 mm) are used for this machine. This machine is suitable for low-temperature testing up to -196 degree Centigrade with help of a charpy specimen cooling bath. The test sample is placed in a chamber bath of nitrogen and ethanol, and dry ice until a calibrated thermocouple records the temperature required for the test. Once a specimen reaches the precise temperature, it is quickly placed into a special holder in the test machine.
