At IIT Palakkad, our group's main focus is on understanding thermal transport in 2D materials. We employ opto-thermal Raman techniques to get insights into the thermal transport mechanisms in 2D materials and their heterostructures. Our recent efforts include: (1) studies on gold nanoparticle-decorated graphene; (2) effect of edge chirality on graphene thermal transport; (3) layer-number-dependent thermal transport in molybdenum disulfide; and (4) the effect of interface on the thermal transport properties of molybdenum disulfide.
Currently, we are focusing on thermal transport in 2D TMDS and heterostructures.
In addition to thermal transport, our group has recently started to look at the magneto-transport studies in 2D materials and applications in spintronics. The work in this direction is in the beginning stages, and more details will be updated soon. There are exciting problems that are being investigated in our group in this area.
Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) and Central Micro-Nano Fabrication Facility (CMFF) are two central facilities set up by IIT Palakkad. All the major research equipment is accessible through the facility.
