Introduction to DiST Tutor
Purpose of using DiST Tutor
DiST tutor is a Scratch-Arduino based application that provides students a simulation-based environment to understand the relationship between distance, speed and time. This application is a graph tracing simulation designed and developed using 2 affordable technologies – Scratch programming and Arduino.
Learning objective
Student will be able to analyze the constructed graph(s) and infer the relationship between distance, speed and time (D-S-T). It is based on theoretical underpinning of embodied cognition. Embodied cognition involves how the body and mind work in tandem to create the human experience. Embodied cognition literature suggests that the physical actions we perform, as well as the actions being performed around us, shape our mental experience. This is realized in DiST tutor by using physical components such as accelerator and de-accelerator to manipulate variables D-S-T.
