Finance Board

Who Are We?

Our duty as a board is to allocate the student activity fund (SAF) to all the student organizations on our campus in a fair manner. However, our ultimate goal is to promote student involvement and campus life at Illinois Tech. Finance Board (FB) is also responsible for making sure that student organizations are using the money allocated to them in a manner that does not go against the SGA constitution and bylaws as well as the FB Policies & Procedures. We would like to help all organizations become comfortable with our proposal process so feel free to contact us at fbchair@iit.edu with any comments, questions or concerns. What is the Student Activities Fund (SAF)?

The SAF is a fund each students pays into alongside tuition (usually $125/semester/student). Finance Board along with the Office of Campus Life (OCL) carries out this process from reviewing your request to purchasing your requested products or services. 

Finance Board is tasked with reviewing and determining if budget requests are in-line with the "spirit" of the SAF being equitable in opportunity and benefit for all students.

Once your budget is approved, you work with the Office of Campus Life by submitting a Purchase Request (PR) on HawkLink detailing very specifically what you which to purchase. OCL additionally works with you with any requests such as finalizing contracts, movie rights, traveling to conferences, etc.

Who is on Finance Board?

Finance Board consists of voting members and a chair. The Chair is selected through elections by the Student Body during the SGA Executive Board Elections. The rest of the board is nominated and confirmed by the SGA Senate through a slate put forth by Finance Board. If you are interested in joining Finance Board please email us at fbchair@iit.edu.

My name is Nya Harrison and I am currently a second year Humanities student doing a minor in Political Science and a concentration in Philosophy! I love to travel, crochet, and explore Chicago. I have been on Finance Board for 2 semesters and am excited to contribute as chair!

Riki Osako

Hi everyone. My name is Riki Osako and I am one of the Finance Board advisors. I am a fifth year Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management major while also doing my Masters in Energy Systems. I have been involved in many campus wide activities since my freshman year and have been in many leadership positions in multiple different clubs. In my free time, I enjoy working out, cooking, going for hikes and camping, watching basketball and competing in karate. In the future I hope to go into the automotive field and then teach!

I’m Jagadeesh Puli, a Financial Board Advisor with a Master’s in Computer Science. I’m excited to be on the Finance Board because I love diving into data and helping make smart financial decisions. Keeping Illinois Tech’s financial ship steady—no budget icebergs on my watch. When I’m not buried in code, you’ll find me exploring new places, hitting the trails for hikes, and cruising around in my car.

Hi everyone! My name is Arianna Perez, and I am a Financial Board Advisor. This fall, I will be attending Illinois Tech as a third-year transfer student, pursuing a degree in Computer and Cybersecurity Engineering. Hey there! My name is Kris and I am the Editor-in-Chief of TechNews, as well as a new Finance Board advisor! I'm getting my BS in Psych, minor in stats, with a co-terminal MS in IO Psych. I've been involved with SGA and FB in formal and informal ways for multiple school years. In my free time, I'm playing video games, wandering the waterfront, or writing. I look forward to assisting orgs with their budgets.

Hey everyone! I'm Nishant Kabra, a transfer student majoring in Computer Science. I'm very excited to be on Finance Board because it's a great chance for me to get to know all the amazing student organizations on our campus and see how they use their funding to make student life better.
