In November 1999, Tillakaratne Dilshan made his cricket debut against Zimbabwe, showcasing glimpses of his talent with a score of nine runs. But he really came to the fore in the series' second test, where he scored an unbeaten 163 runs and earned the prestigious Player of the Match award. His greatest moment as a batsman came in 2011 at Lord's Cricket Ground, when he amassed an incredible 193 runs against England.
Dilshan's adventure in One Day Internationals (ODIs) also started against Zimbabwe, where he scored 31 runs in his first-ever game. In 2006, he scored a remarkable unbeaten 117 runs in his maiden ODI century against the Netherlands, which enabled Sri Lanka to tie the then-record ODI total of 443 runs. His amazing century of 160 runs against India in 2009, which nearly sealed an incredible victory, is remembered as one of the most exciting chases in cricket history.

Early Life
Tillakaratne Dilshan was born on October 14, 1976, in Kalutara, Sri Lanka, into a family of five siblings. His father was Malay, while his mother was Sinhalese. Dilshan attended Jaffna Sinhala Madya Maha Vidyalaya for primary education before moving to Kalutara Vidyalaya. Despite his family's initial reluctance for him to pursue cricket, Dilshan began his cricketing journey as a teenager.
Married Life
Dilshan is married to Sri Lankan actress Manjula Thilini, with whom he shares two daughters, Resandi Linama Tillakaratne and Lasadi Dihasansa Tillakaratne, and two sons, Dihela Dinhath Tillakaratne and a younger son born in 2017. Their marriage was celebrated during the 2008 IPL series in India.

Tillakaratne Dilshan retired from limited-overs cricket on August 25, 2016, after a stellar career marked by 10,290 ODI runs and 1,889 T20I runs. His final ODI appearance on August 28, 2016, saw him score 42 runs against Australia before exiting the international stage.
