Master Blaster who is known by his full name Deshabandu Sanath Teran Jayasuriya and was born on the 30th of June 1969. Born and raised initially on the southern part of Sri Lanka in midst of Matara and Galle, he became the "Observer Schoolboy of the year" while he was learning and appointed as Captain of the cricket team at the St. Thomas vs St. Servatius encounter, where his first initial approach to national cricket pathway begun.
Sanath is the primary cricketer to be designated as a UN Goodwill Minister (by UNAIDS, Geneva) for his commitment to the avoidance of HIV/AIDS among youthful individuals in Sri Lanka. He entered politics in February 2010 as a candidate for Matara Area. His party is the Joined together People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) of the president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Sanath was an all-rounder, who had an universal cricket career that spread over two decades. He is the as it were player to score over 10,000 runs and capture more than 300 wickets in One Day Universal cricket and is additionally regarded as one of the leading all-rounders within the history of limited-overs cricket.
