Message from the Dean of Student Affairs
Students are the most important part of the institute. Consequently, the institute puts a lot of effort in making student life safe and enjoyable in the campus. Understandably, the decision to join an institute for a programme critically depends on the available infrastructure and facilities in the campus. This website is an attempt to answer most obvious questions from prospective students and their parents.
Campus life involves hostels, mess, sports and extra-curricular activities apart from the usual academic activities necessary for the programme. The campus is a secure space for the students, and movement in and out of the campus is monitored and regulated. If you are considering IISER Berhampur as your destination for BSMS degrees, rest assured that the five years on campus will be one of the most enjoyable phase of your life. What makes campus life enjoyable is the vibrant community of students. Most of the time, students are involved in some or other activities - sports, cultural events, yoga, science clubs, and many more. Since our student community is culturally and regionally diverse, throughout the year, there is no dearth of cultural and sporting events - making campus life anything but mundane.
While the academic rigor is maintained in the classes, students are given ample space to nurture different key life skills. A student body - Student Activity Council (SAC) play key roles in running various student activities and fests, represent students in the important administrative meetings, and also running the Student mess. We take pride in the maturity of our graduates. Over the years, IISER Berhampur has produced students who are not only well-trained, but are also model citizens.
About student life:

Yes. There are three hostels, along with a common Mess at the Kitchen and Dining complex.
Do I get a single room in the hostel? What furniture does it come with?

IISER Berhampur has a zero tolerance policy on ragging, bullying and all other kinds of harassment. These are punishable offences. We follow the rules and laws laid down by the Govt. of India.
