SIKER2024: School on Interdisciplinary Knowledge and Engineering System

SIKER is an annual national level research workshop, organized by Department of CSE, IIIT Kottayam to promote the research in interdisciplinary areas from traditional Indian knowledge. The key objective of the event is to explore the multifaceted knowledge systems of India with a modern scientific approach. The first edition of SIKER was held in July 2023, with the support of ICSSR ( https://sites.google.com/view/siker2023 ).

Objectives

The aim of the workshop is to explore India's intellectual, scientific and cultural knowledge traditions from an Engineering perspective, with the following objectives:

• Provide introduction to Interdisciplinary Knowledge focusing on Linguistics, Agriculture, Culture and Medicine

• Discuss the possibility of connecting modern engineering research in Computational Linguistics, Bioinformatics and Machine Learning with Indigenous knowledge

• Identify novel research problems and approaches where modern and traditional knowledge can coexist.

• Bring together the researchers in the areas of Interdisciplinary topics  and Engineering Research to discuss the possibilities of novel approaches in the light of National Education Policy 2020.

Major Themes

SIKER 2024 explores interdisciplinary research problems from the following four thematic areas and their counter parts from Engineering Research.

2. Ayurveda and Bioinformatics

The registration is open to anyone who are interested to explore India's largest tradition and scientific heritage. We are welcoming participation from faculty members, research scholars, UG/PG students, and industry professionals from Engineering, Linguistics, Social Science and Cultural heritage areas.
