Supported by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi
India is known for its scientific heritage and traditional knowledge in the areas of linguistics, mathematics, medicine, culture and well-being. Attempts to connect these indigenous knowledge systems with modern technology attract many researchers nowadays. The advancement in engineering and technology, especially in Computational Engineering creates an avenue for solving complex real world problems. The applications of AI enabled state-of-the-art models reached almost all areas of life. At the same time the scientific temper of traditional knowledge is still not explored in its true form. In this juncture, the proposed workshop will explore traditional knowledge and scientific heritage of our country with an aim of linking it with modern engineering research.
The aim of the workshop is to explore India's intellectual, scientific and cultural knowledge traditions from an Engineering perspective, with the following objectives:
Provide introduction to Indian Knowledge System (IKS) focusing on Linguistics, Agriculture, Culture and Medicine
Discuss the possibility of connecting modern engineering research in Computational Linguistics, Bioinformatics and Machine Learning with Indian Knowledge Systems
Identify novel research problems and approaches where modern and traditional knowledge can coexist.
Bring together the researchers in the areas of IKS and Engineering Research to discuss the possibilities of interdisciplinary approaches in the light of National Education Policy 2020.
SIKER 2023 explores interdisciplinary research problems from the following four thematic areas and their counter parts from Engineering Research.
Sanskrit Linguistics and Natural Language Processing
Ayurveda and Bioinformatics
Cultural Heritage and Culture Computing
Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence
Discussions on research problems from interdisciplinary areas of Indian Knowledge system and Engineering research
Eminent speakers from both IKS and Engineering research
Handson sessions and demonstrations
Opportunity network with eminent researchers in the thematic areas
Group work and discussions
The registration is open to anyone who are interested to explore India's largest tradition and scientific heritage. We are welcoming participation from faculty members, research scholars, UG/PG students, and industry professionals from Engineering, Linguistics, Social Science and Cultural heritage areas.
