The Field Work component at IIFM is of a crucial importance, this period span is of 3 weeks (21 days), wherein the students are allotted a state forming a group of students selected in random from the batch to proceed for the field work. The essence of the field work is to make students accustom to the forest management principles, on ground work associated in forests, learn the working of forest departments, human-wildlife conflict, and wildlife management, which in general is not offered by any other institute all over India. This program of field work, directly is associated with the state forest departments which provide the necessary roadmap, logistics, support and hospitality for the students visiting the allotted state. This year students received an opportunity of field work in 6 different states:
1) Karnataka
2) Tamil Nadu
3) Rajasthan
5) Maharashtra
6) Kerala
