We announce the publication of the interview with Diana Rubalcava in the "Success Stories #MujeresFacMed" section, titled: "Science benefits from diverse and authentic minds".
Diana, a researcher and professor at our university, shares her journey, from her passion for mitochondria to her return to Mexico after a postdoctoral stay in Sweden. She offers valuable reflections on mentorship, the challenges of research with limited resources, and the importance of diversity and well-being in academia.
A timely read about shaping the next generation of scientists!
Our MiniSymposium on Current Questions and Tools of Energetic Metabolism was a fantastic success, featuring presentations from top researchers: Dr. Pierre Cardol (Université de Liège), Dr. Diego González Halphen (IFC, UNAM), Dr. Wojciech J. Nawrocki (CNRS), and our own Dra. Diana Rubalcava Gracia (IIBo, UNAM).
We were thrilled by the excellent attendance from students and faculty, which led to a Q&A session with thoughtful and stimulating questions for the speakers.
A big thank you to all the presenters for their insightful contributions!
We announce the award of our lab's first-ever grant! This achievement represents a major milestone and a significant step forward for our group.
We had a great time at the SYNAPSIA Festival with our Mitochondria Origami workshop! Participants built paper mitochondria and learned about mitochondrial DNA and its maternal inheritance. We enjoyed sharing our lab's research in a creative, engaging way.
Warm welcome to Ivana, our first student! Ivana holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry and is joining us for a research stay. We're excited to have her contribute to our work!
The 2nd Biomedical Research Fair at the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the diverse research happening at the institute. We enjoyed seeing the innovative work of our colleagues and engaging in stimulating discussions that offered new perspectives. The fair was an inspiring event, and we left with fresh ideas and a deeper appreciation for the work of the broader scientific community.
A major milestone for our team! We received the keys to the GenMit lab space! This new lab space provides a blank canvas for our future work. We look forward to transforming this space to support our upcoming research on mitochondrial gene expression. Stay tuned for updates as we build our new hub for academic research.
