2020-2021 Updates

Information for Virtual/At Home Learners

  • Have a consistent working place in your house where you can sit down and focus for an extended period of time that is free from distractions, including pets.
  • Consider using headphones so you are not distracted by background noise.
  • Have supplies in your work space ready - this includes textbooks, workbooks, folders, pencils, erasers, highlighters, crayons, etc.
  • Make sure your device/Chromebook is charged.
  • Log onto Google Classroom and access the Google Meet code at the various assigned times throughout the day. This schedule will be provided by your teachers.
  • Leave the Google Meet when instructed by your teacher - do not leave early.
  • Keep the video/camera feed turned on, but mute your microphone.
  • Behave appropriately at all times, following all IHM handbook expectations.
  • Type into the chat box to ask a question or provide a response, unless directed otherwise by your teacher.
  • Do not walk around with your device - remain in the same spot throughout the Google Meet.
  • Get dressed and wear your IHM uniform or PE uniform for all virtual classes.
  • Do not eat during the Google Meet, but you may have water
  • At the end of the Google Meet, complete any independent work, as well as homework, assigned by the teacher in your academic area.
  • Check teacher websites daily.
  • Check Power School for grades weekly.
  • If you need technology assistance with your device or navigating Google, there will be assistance from 11 am until 1 pm everyday. More information about how to contact this assistance will be provided within the first week of school.
  • If you need additional academic assistance, email your teacher following the etiquette rules below.
  • Use the following email etiquette to send an email to an IHM teacher:

Use a greeting: Address the teacher by name and title (Dear Mrs. ____)

Subject line: Make it clear

Body of email: List the name of the assignment, explain what you need or have a question about in a clear & concise manner; Do not use text slang or abbreviations or excessive capital letters/punctuation

Use a respectful tone and be polite - do not be demanding or type something that you would not say if in front of the teacher

Proofread your email before submitting

Use a closing (Sincerely) and sign your name

When you receive a reply, respond back thanking the teacher for their assistance

  • If you are sick and will not be attending Google Meet sessions, call or email Miss Susan (410 668 8466) at IHM to report your absence from online learning. Her email is sbaer@ihmschoolmd.org

Information for In Person Learners at IHM

  • Parents must fill out the AOB Wellness Survey each morning prior to their child entering the school building
  • Students must wear a mask upon exiting their cars and throughout the day in/out of the school building. Face masks can have designs, but no words/slogans.
  • A lanyard to attach to masks will be provided to each student for use during lunch and mask breaks.
  • Prek students, as well as morning Beyond the Bell students must have their temperature taken by a parent from their vehicle while an IHM faculty member observes and records.
  • IHM is a nut-free school - all students will eat in their classrooms.
  • No outside food, including fast food, is permitted to be left for students for lunch.
  • Students should bring a refillable water bottle that is filled with water only to start the school day.
  • As a reminder, no birthday food treats are permitted.
  • Students may wear their gym uniform for the month of September along with tennis shoes/sneakers.
  • Coatrooms/hooks will not be used - students will store supplies and personal belongings in 5-gallon buckets that will be provided.
  • No medications will be provided by the nurse - a doctor’s note must be on file and medication must be supplied by families.
  • At dismissal, parents must remain at their cars. Name cards will be supplied by IHM to families - these should be held up for students to see.
