Drafting

The drafting phase of our project went well, but not perfectly. We quickly came up with a solid idea of who we were going to help (veterans), and how we were going to do it. Then, we gave our 1 minute pitch to Ms. Hasebroock and were approved with no problems. After that, most importantly, we made a list of steps in which we were going to implement this plan. This included first performing research and finishing our Annotated Bibliography, then informing people through emails of our TED talk and statistics, making and posting our flyers and finally enlisting signatures and support for our petition, fighting against this social justice issue. The one big problem came out when we were trying to follow through with this plan. Everyday, we didn't really assign tasks for each member to do for each night. So, there were some times where the work we planned for each person was not done due to confusion. In the future, we hope to change this as our project would have gone a lot smoother otherwise.

Research

After we decided what we wanted to do and who we wanted to help, we still had to do research before we could implement our plan. Research was one of the most successful phases of our project. We were able to find reliable sources that provided great statistics and insight into truly how large the problem at VA hospitals were. Research was very eye opening to our group and all the more motivating to make a difference and to take action. After finding our sources, we cited them and wrote on why we used them, a helpful and necessary task in weeding out useless sources and finding the helpful ones. After doing our research, we were ready to educate our community and take action into working towards fixing our social justice issue, poor medical care for veterans.

Looking back on our process, though it was successful, out group agreed that good planning and communication was lacking. We realized that we found more sources than we needed and some of our sources stated unnecessary information, or information from another source. I think if we put all of our sources on a single document and stated what we were suing it for as we were reading them would have made the process quicker and more efficient.
