Help Our Veterans

We read Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson for our Social Justice Unit is Ms. Hasebroock's English Class. In our book, there is a story told about a veteran, Herbert Richardson, who is to be put to death because a crime he committed, one that could have been avoided had he been properly treated for his mental trauma and instability due to his time in combat. This reminded us of how in the news recently there was the stories about how veteran had absurdly long wait times and a severe lack of quality care in the hospitals that were built specifically for them, to serve them. So we decided to make a petition to our Illinois Director of the VA, Erica Jeffries, asking for better quality of care.
