Thank you for considering us for your project. As an institution, we always give our best in everything we do. We'll work hard to improve and learn everything there's to learn, and we'll also be glad to share our knowledge. We value honest and straightforward communication. So, if you have any questions or simply want to chat, call/email us anytime.
We are a team of 25 teachers and around 320 students. We are a Maritime school located on the southern coast of Catalonia, Spain. We offer two-year VET programs on Maritime studies to students starting in their last year of compulsory education, aged 16. In addition, we also offer two-year Higher VET programs on Maritime studies to students aged 18+. Students can choose between two specialisations for each of those programs: Navigation & Fishing or Marine Engineering. So most of our teachers belong to either the Deck Department or the Engineering Department. Apart from those studies, we also have a VET program in Commercial Diving, and another one in Sailing.
Shipping is an industry where internationalisation is a crucial element, and seafarers-to-be can surely learn a lot from an international environment. Our students need to be offered a picture beyond what they have within sight so they can learn to appreciate how similar and unique we can be at the same time. That will make them grow and will give them better tools for their future.
In Spain, Obligatory Secondary Education covers children aged 12 to 16. At the end of that period, students who want to continue studying can go to university preparation (Bachillerato) or to Vocational Education and Training (ages 16-18). When they finish either their Bachillerato or VET studies, they can go to Higher Education. There are two Higher Education options: University or Higher VET programs (ages 18+).
Our school offers both VET (ages 16-18) and Higher VET (18+) programs. Spanish Higher VET programs are considered HED in Erasmus programs.

Escola de Capacitació Nauticopesquera de Cataluña is accredited with an ISO 9001:2015 Quality
Certification issued by BUREAU VERITAS, one of the most renowned worldwide certification institutions.
In addition to applying this standard, our school teaching programmes are implemented in compliance with the STCW convention regulations in achieving qualifications in the maritime industry.
By complying with these regulations, we enable our students to find jobs easily in the maritime employment market.
This job market has become more and more demanding in terms of training quality for seafarers, hence the school manages its quality system constantly and improves the training process as well as invests efforts in applying modern developments in seamanship.
