PROJECTS
📋 English is the language of science
We read papers about the last science advances which are published in English-speaking journals.
We prepare oral expositions about them.
We practice reading, vocabulary and speaking.
We keep the rest of the students updated every month, drop by the English corner and check it out!
🦸 Science-fiction vs. Science
As fascinating as sci-fi movies are, they get a lot of the science terribly wrong!
We analyze some science-fiction scenes and try to find these mistakes as well as the real science behind.
We practice listening and speaking.
This school year, as a part of our Centre project “Cinema”, we presented our work the last day of the second trimester during the "Jornada Cultural".
We created the Wheel of Science Fiction and printed some scenes so people could find the science mistakes in them.
🧪 Science and Pseudoscience
Pseudoscience is a collection of beliefs or practices mistakenly regarded as being based on scientific method.
We do some research about different branches of pseudoscience like: astrology, quiromancy, ufology, parapsychology, creationism, homeopaty, healing crystals...
We look for a piece of news related to one of them and write an article to refute its arguments.
We practice reading and writing.
👩🏻🔬 Women in Science
There are great women of science who have changed the world forever!
We explore some of the reasons why there are fewer girls working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) even though women have higher course grades than men.
We practice reading and writing.
We make sure the other students can find some female role models in STEM.
👩🏻🏫 Learn and teach
"Teaching is a great way to keep learning."
We do some research about the natural environment of our surroundings.
This school year we have chosen the Nature Reserve of Gallocanta Lake.
We create didactic materials to show our investigations to other students. This school year we are planning to visit the Primary School (CEIP de Monreal).
We practice speaking.
