Teacher Rocío asked students to create websites to sell products using the concept of proportionality, having to calculate prices and discounts. She also encouraged them to use English and the results were really good!
Teacher Elisabet asked students to record a video in which they spoke in English about a recipe they had to prepare. In addition to naming the ingredients, they had to explain the preparation process and mention the number of servings. Then, in class, they worked on the same recipe but for a different number of servings.
The aim of this activity is for students to determine whether there is a proportional relationship between the ingredients of any recipe and the number of people, as well as between different ingredients. They can also calculate the proportionality ratio and, using the rule of three, adjust the recipe for a different number of servings. Additionally, they can relate the necessary ingredients to the cost of purchasing them. This is a very useful activity, closely connected to their daily lives.
