On the 26th of September we celebrated the European Day of Langauges. Therefore, at Galileo High School we devoted the following week (27th - 1st) to work on the importance of European Languages.
Some of the highlights of the week were the the visit of some Erasmus students from UVa, who gave their testimony on the importance of speaking languages, and the Cambridge Certificates Ceremony in which the students who took the tests last year received their certificates.
The most frightening day of the year took over our school:
This year we celebrated in many different ways: reading horror stories in the languages taught at school (English, French, Italian and Spanish), casting dark spells, and doing trick-or-treat!
We had a ball!
From the 31st of October to the 5th of November, 25 students from Year 2 of Compulsory Secondary Education participated in a langauge immersion under the slogan "Sciece Can Make a Better World". During those days, the students participated in different activities closely related to Science, more especifically Physics and Chemistry. The topics they dealt with were the following: the human body, women in Science, food and nutrition, renewable energies, and flora and fauna. Besides, there were some field trips to Cuacos de Yuste (Paprika [Pimentón de la Vera] museum and German Cementery) and Arroyomolinos.

Last Christmas you gave us your hearts as the most wonderful time of the year took over the school.
The Christmas Advert Contest. On the walls of the school there were copies of Christmas Adverts that were to be identified by the participants. For it to be a school community activities, there were four categories: 1st - 3rd CSE; 4th CSE - 2PCSE; Vocational Training; and Teachers and Staff. Surprisingly many people participated and mostly all school got involved in it.
Cambridge Mock Exams. During the last days of the term, our students did Cambridge Mock Exams to prepare for the real certification at the end of the school year.
All I Want for Christmas Is You video. To share the joy, many of our students recorded a video dancing to Mariah Carey's hit son All I Want for Christmas Is You. You can watch it here!
