VISIT OF STUDENTS FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Our school received a visit from a group of students from the BIGY J.N. Neumanna, at České Budějovice (Czech Republic) from the 15th until the 20th of April. This visit was possible thanks to the Erasmus Plus programme. The students could learn how our school works by visiting our classroom. They also walked through our city (visiting "El Pilar", our Roman remains, "Parque José Antonio Labordeta", etc.) learning all about our history and lots of curiosities. Besides, they could spend time with their classmates from Spain, establishing long lasting bonds with them.
In the pictures below you can see a bit of that great experience. We hope to pay a return visit very soon!
Spelling Bee Contest 2023
One more year, our school participated in the Spelling Bee Contest that took place at the Aquarium in Zaragoza on the 29th and 30th of March. Annabell Ikponmwosa and Lingyu Lai participated in the junior category. Petrica Sintion and Mudar Al Azem participated in the intermediate category. They did really well and fully enjoyed the experience.
Besides, Tian, our teaching assistant, congratulated our students for their effort and awarded them with the typical Australian "Caramello Koalas", which our students really liked!
australian week (23rd-30th MARCH)
It is already a tradition to organise a cultural week to work and learn with the history and culture of English speaking countries. Two years ago our cultural week dealt with Ireland. The last year we devoted this week to The Commonwealth. This year it is Australia's turn. With the help of Tian, our teaching assistant, we are carrying out different projects and activities. We will publish in the different sections of this blog everything about the following:

AUSTRALIA'S DAY (26th JANUARY)
26th January is Australia's Day. Tian, our Australian teaching assistant celebrated it with us by bringing typical Vegemite and 100s and 1000s from that country. Our students loved trying this kind of food (even it they found Vegemite's taste rather strange) while they were working with her in class.

The Commonwealth Week
During these days, our BRIT students will be working to learn about The Commonwealth of Nations, a key organisation in the English Speaking world. There will also be activities done by students from other groups in their English lessons, apart from work in Spanish Language and Geography and History.

THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES (P.E. 1ºand 2ºESO)
In Physical Education we are learning about THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES, which is an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth. This year will be held in Birmingham (England). The sports that are played in this competition are: Wrestling, netball, rugby, cricket, badminton, hockey, etc… As Rugby is a quite popular sport in many Commonwealth countries, this is why we are learning about RUGBY TAG. Rugby tag is an adaptation of rugby and its being great fun.

Annabell Ikponmwosa (1ºESO-B) and Ikra Aslam (2ºESO-A) will be our representatives at the SPELLING BEE CONTEST which will finally take place next 12th May at the Aquarium. Congratulations girls! And good luck!

ESCAPE ROOM - THE ENIGMA OF WOMEN IN SCIENCE
Last 17th February we received the visit of "Inspira" association. They offered our 1ESO students a SCAPE ROOM where they learnt about WOMEN SCIENTISTS. This activity is related to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11th February).

Saint Valentine's Day
Today is Saint Valentine's Day. The English Department wants to encourage you to leave your love message IN ENGLISH on the first floor's wall, around this lovely heart made by 1ºBRIT students. Please, ask you English teacher for a posit and think about your love message. You can take postis from the PIEE as well. It doesn't have to be a romantic love message, you can write to your family, friends, pet, favourite singer, etc.

Our school is going to take part in the Spelling Bee Contest that is going to take place next May at the Aquarium. Many bilingual schools from Aragón, like ours, are going to participate, so we are looking for the two students that will represent our school at the contest in the JUNIOR CATEGORY. These are the volunteers that are involved in the selection. We'll keep you posted about it!

Even though we are still immersed in the Coronavirus pandemic, there are many things in life to be thankful for. Therefore, our students have learnt about Thanksgiving day, its origins in American history and why it is so important for people at the USA. After that, they have summarized their work in this "Gratitude Wall" which reminds us all the good things in life. We hope you like it! Thanks to our 1º and 2ºESO students, and thanks to the Arts and Crafts Department for their help.

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE DONE THIS YEAR TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN AT OUR SCHOOL:
We have learnt about "spooky birds" in Biology and Geology.
We have created our own "Halloween monsters" to describe them later on in English.
We have also danced with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in Physical Education.
In Music, we have made some Halloween Posters and written Horror Songs.
Besides, we have enjoyed some "spooky games" as well in Physical Education.
We can also enjoy some "Halloween Comics" made by our students in English.
In 4ºESO and 1ºBACH we have read frightening stories from Edgar Allan Poe.
Finally, in Technology, we have elaborated our own Jack o'Lanterns.
It's been frighteningly awesome!
