academic rules

attendance

Attendance is mandatory in all continuous assessment courses.

  • Students must attend at least 80% of the sessions to pass the course.

  • Only absences due to "force majeure" are considered excused. Please note that work commitments are not considered force majeure.

  • Students are expected to be in the classroom at the assigned time. Punctuality is emphasized in all courses.

  • Professors may establish their own rules regarding punctuality, within their academic freedom.

Course Withdrawal

A student can withdraw from a course in the event of a health problem or for a duly justified work reason, considered cases of force majeure, no later than half of the scheduled sessions.

  • In the case of courses with 11 sessions of 3 hours, the withdrawal request must be formalized no later than the sixth session.

  • In the case of 8-hour workshops or courses, the withdrawal request must be formalized before the workshop or course begins.

  • In the case of workshops lasting 16 hours, the request for withdrawal or modification of enrollment must be formalized before the beginning of the class.

The student must meet the total attendance in the same section and with the same teacher.

ethical considerations

IESA courses are subject to the contents of the "General Policy on Student Conduct and Disciplinary Sanctions", which establishes among other provisions:

Students will act following the values and principles of the Institute’s Decalogue so that their conduct will be governed by honesty, excellence, mutual respect, rectitude, individual responsibility, social and environmental responsibility, trust, confidentiality, institutional loyalty, and compliance rules.

Students must be responsible for attending academic activities scheduled and in compliance with academic commitments acquired, leaving a transparent record of their presence when required.

IESA students will demonstrate in academic activities, particularly evaluations, their adherence to the values and principles of honesty, rectitude, and excellence, taking into account the duty of:

  1. To assume the academic activities and particularly the evaluative ones as a personal and non-delegable commitment;

  2. Conceive academic work and especially the research developed in coursework as an opportunity to make individual or collective contributions, according to the nature of the activity, based on the state of existing knowledge in each area and recognize the ideas or studies of others that you have used;

  3. Be rigorous in the citations of bibliographic or other sources consulted, including their previous papers.

  4. Respect the individual character of exams or other assignments, when required, as well as the norms established by the professor for the development of the evaluations.
