EPISODE STRUCTURE AND MAIN STORYLINES
In Season One, episodes will typically open cold, then follow three main storylines, as detailed below.
Cold open: Cold opens typically will feature a flashback or secondary character focus.
A story (Carrot and The Boss): Carrot reluctantly agrees to team up with The Boss in a “Change the World” initiative. They grow closer as they work together towards a season-ending “Change the World Charity Gala/Q4 Shareholder Meeting”.
B story (Carrot and Carrot Sr.): Following the events of E101, Carrot Sr. moves in with Carrot to be nursed back to health. He’s determined to “be back on his feet” in time to see his son shine at the “Change the World Charity Gala/Q4 Shareholder Meeting”
C story (Adams in the Underworld): Mild-mannered Adams didn’t die following his trap-dooring in E101. He’s found friends below to help him make his way back to the surface in time to confront The Boss during … you guessed it … the “Change the World Charity Gala/Q4 Shareholder Meeting”.
EPISODE 101 (Pilot)
Cold open: For a nickel, Sidewalk uses finger puppets to tell Carrot what it's like, then executes a $40 performance of "Strauss's Blue Danube Waltz in simulated fart sounds" to Carrot's chagrin, then finally, acceptance.
A story: Following a tense initial meeting, Carrot inspires The Boss with his impromptu speech at an elite gala. A few days later, The Boss reaches out to Carrot to propose a partnership to "change the world".
B story: Carrot Sr is revealed during a flashback to Carrot's childhood.
C story: After choosing a "too subdued" wrapping paper for a 4-year old's public park birthday party. Adams is fired, then disposed of. Later, he's revealed to be alive - and transformed - in the sewers beneath The City.
EPISODE 102 (RE: Changing the World)
Cold open: While chastising Carrot for skipping his weekly gutbucket lesson with Lumpy Fred (who happens to be his friend), a sudden wordplay inspires Carrot Sr. to seek out the Wise Woman of Pepper Peak to ask: which is more valuable: time or money?
A story: Still fleetingly inspired by the gala speech, The Boss recruits Carrot to spearhead a new corporate initiative to "change the world". To expand his perspective, The Boss invites himself to spend Saturday ticking off to-do list boxes with Carrot and Rudy Caliente (Carrot's roommate).
B story: Carrot visits his father in the hospital. Following a disturbing report from Dr. Proctor, he reluctantly invites Carrot Sr. to move in with him while he recovers.
C story: Suffering from amnesia, Adams tries to make sense of his situation. The pillbugs befriend Adams and lead him to the lair of a monster guarding a mysterious treasure.
EPISODE 103 (The Telltale Cufflinks)
Cold open: During a cocktail party at the Scorpion Atlantis Base, Tina Yothers (The Boss’s sister and S.C.O.R.P.ion’s Chief Commanding Officer) employs live-action tableaus to demonstrate how the one sentient body part that hasn't yet been successfully monetized by technology is the soul - until now, that is. By synthesizing the sum of all internet comments since the birth of the web, Tina gifts Robot 5 "sort of a soul" before, upon awakening, it immediately goes on a violent rampage.
A story: Carrot gets a taste of The Boss’s lifestyle when their work to "Change the World" is interrupted by a "Priority Uno" job - finding The Boss's beloved prehistoric "world's first cufflinks," which he may have lost while carrying out a mysterious "Gentleman's Dalliance".
B story: Carrot issues an ultimatum to Carrot Sr. after he disrespects the refrigerator chore list - pull your weight, or leave.
C story: Adams defeats the monster and wins the guarded treasure: a VHS-tape of the documentary “Habits and History of the Pillbug”.
EPISODE 104 (Gimme a Gigg!)
Cold open: A segment from “Discourse and Rage Forum” featuring media rivals Thucker Churdson (host of the AXX Network's primetime flagship Cuck-Thucking with Thucker Churdson) and Gloria Vainders (anchor of CON's top-rated No, You Are! Nightly) takes an expected and bloody turn.
Main story: In a departure from standard multi-story structure, E104 focuses on one main story, following Carrot Sr. for a full day as he accepts various “Giggs” from Giggs - the app that combines every service industry job in one - so that he can “pull his weight around the place”. Following a day of ride-sharing, personal cooking, exotic massage, subbing the drum seat in front of a stadium crowd, and more, he returns home and tries (unsuccessfully) to Bauble 23 bucks to Carrot (Bauble is the 2nd most popular payment app, but Carrot actually uses Bangle) before passing out, exhausted.
EPISODE 105 (Family Ties)
Cold open After being rightfully demolished by his wife as “a man of zero action,” megachurch leader Reverend Gary WIlcox is visited by Janet Winters, a representative of Mindverse Bank (Where the Universe Minds the Minds of the Universe) - who explains why the Reverend’s lifetime of obsessive thinking has been a sound investment.
Main story: In a departure from the multi-story structure, E105 more deeply explores The Boss, when he and Tina Yothers swap childhood stories while trying to convince Janey Lou to please come down for Weekly Dinner.
EPISODE 106 (Charity! Gala! Scissors!)
Cold open: In a flashback, Stroonz arrives home after mascot-ing Euney the Eunicorp Unicorn during The Boss's gala, then carries out his nightly routine - gradually removing his layers of masks, going to bed, then carefully putting on his masks again before leaving for work the next morning.
A story: Work continues, and Carrot fears The Boss’s vision for the Charity Gala is leaning too much on the “Gala” over the “Charity”
B story Carrot Senior's "help" continues to annoy until Carrot's temper flares over and he tells his dad he’s been a disappointment.
C story: Adams learns how to communicate with the Pillbugs: he must interpret the memories evoked by the smell of the gas bubbles expelled from their head-holes.
EPISODE 107 (The Fall of Adams)
Cold open: The Wise Woman of Pepper Peak sets off a media frenzy when she calls a press conference at 3:00 to reveal the one true religion. It turns out there's no such thing as religion and you could just do a few exercises to help widen/deepen your definition of family, which should do the trick.
Main story: In a departure from the multi-story structure, E107 focuses on Adams, who embarks on a dark night of the soul hosted by the Pillbugs, who repeatedly smell-evoke Adams into remembering the key events of his past.
EPISODE 108 (Border Crossings)
Cold open: A flashback follows the Carrot family in younger, happier times - mother, father, and baby - during a trip to the county fair.
A story: In a heartfelt moment, The Boss tells Carrot that he’s appreciated and learned from their partnership.
B story: In a heartfelt moment, Carrot Sr. tells Carrot that, though he didn’t always understand him, he’s always been proud of him.
C story: Reaching the underground citadel of the Pillbugs, Adams is hailed as their new queen and shown the path to the surface.
EPISODE 109-110 (Enter: The Fallen)
Cold open: Carrot meets Sidewalk on the street again, who offers to share a different perspective. To do so, she lends Carrot her "alternate reality" glasses. As soon as Carrot dons the glasses, the animation switches to a 3D style for the duration of Sidewalk's new story.
A/B/C story: At the climax of the Change the World Charity Gala, Carrot must decide who to save: his father (who is under attack by Robot 5) or The Boss (who is under attack by Adams). In the season cliffhanger, Adam's reveals himself as super-villain (?) The Fallen.
