SENDIASS (Special Education Needs and Disabilties Information Advice and Support Service) is a confidential and impartial, advice and support service on issues related to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It is free, easy to access, and confidential. We can help children, parents, and young people take part in decisions that affect their lives.
MATRIX
The MATRIX works with young people under 18yrs, their families and carers in South Tyneside whose lives have been affected by drugs or alcohol and those who are at risk of developing drug or alcohol problems.
Offering a service on behalf of South Tyneside Council we are a team of specialised workers offering a friendly and supportive confidential service located in South Shields Town Centre.
Emotional Resilience Team
The Emotional Resilience Team is a small team of highly experienced professionals, known as Emotional Resilience Officers, who can help to develop the emotional resilience of children and young people.
Escape Intervention
We at Escape Intervention Services believe that everyone should have a chance to reach their true potential in life. We work with 4-25 year olds and their parents/carers. It is our goal to help and support as many children, young people and their families to overcome any barriers to personal success through using a holistic approach – treatment of the whole person, taking into account all factors that contribute to their problems, rather than just the symptoms of distress.
South Tyneside Lifecycle Primary Care and Mental Health Service
Are you feeling down or worried? Do you feel like you have nowhere to turn? – These are common feelings but there is help available. Our team works with people to enable them to overcome their problems when they feel anxious, depressed or stressed.
South Tyneside Lifecycle Primary Care Mental Health Service offer a free and confidential NHS service for people aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP in South Tyneside. We provide a range of psychological therapies to help you feel better if you’re feeling anxious, depressed, stressed or worried.
CYPS
The CYPS is a service for children and young people (0-18 years) who may be experiencing some kind of distress or mental health difficulty and who may or may not have a learning disability. They work closely with families and careers as well as professionals from a range of organisations in order to understand the needs of the children, young people and families we work with.
HumanKind's LGBT+ Project
The service is for anyone aged 11-25, who is living in South Tyneside, who is struggling with, or questioning any aspect of their sexuality and or gender identity. They aim to assist people discovering themselves and to make South Tyneside a more accepting and diverse community.
Bright Futures
Bright Futures is a young women's charity based in South Shields working with young women aged 4+. They’ve been established for since 2013 making a real difference to local young women.
CYP-EDS
CYP-CEDS is a specialist community eating disorder service, we work with children, young people and families where the young person has an eating disorder. We see families from all walks of life who have found themselves impacted by an eating disorder. Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses that pose risks to someone’s physical and mental health. We work with children and young people alongside their family.
School Nurses
School nurses are NMC-registered nurses or midwives who have undertaken additional training and qualifications to become specialist community public health nurses (SCPHN - SN). School nurses lead the healthy child programme:5-19 and are fundamental in ensuring every child has the best start in life.
