A Quick Guide:
"How to Use the ICS Library and Media Center"
The entire International Community School (Singapore) community has access to all the resources held by the Library and Media Center. Please refer to the circulation policies for each member group.
The SmartCard ID card acts as your library card. Borrowers should not lend books to others, as they will be responsible for payment if the book is lost. A student using another person’s card will lose library borrowing privileges.
The borrowing policy for Library Media Center resources differs by grade level:
Lower Elementary (K4-G2): Two resources for up to two weeks.
Upper Elementary (G3-G5): Three resources for up to two weeks.
Middle School: Four resources for up to two weeks.
High School: Four resources for up to two weeks.
Adults (parents or guardians): 10 resources for up to two weeks
Parents can check out books in person or email book requests to icslibrary@ics.edu.sg. Please give us 3 business days to fulfill your request.
Please remember to bring your Parent ID if you are coming in person or take a photo of your Parent ID when requesting books through email.
Library Media Center items can be renewed:
By email: icslibrary@ics.edu.sg
In person: Please stop by during the Library Media Center opening hours
If your item is overdue, you will be automatically via your campus account.
If your item is lost, please send an email or stop by the Library Media Center to resolve this issue OR stop by the Library Media Center to resolve this issue.
The Library Media Center strives to meet the needs of International Community School (Singapore) by maintaining a diverse collection that represents various points of view on current events, historical issues, and areas of personal, spiritual, and academic interest. We recognize our place in a changing world and endeavor to create a library and collection that addresses these changes without losing our identity as a school and in Christ. In offering the community open access to a variety of resources that express differing perspectives on global issues, we provide students with the opportunity to encounter these issues with equipped educators in a safe space from a biblical worldview.
Students may print from the computer for class assignments for a fee. Black and white printing is S$0.10 per page and color printing is S$0.50 per page.
When a book is overdue, a notice will be sent by email to the parent and student. A fine of S$0.20 will be charged for each school day a book is late.
An item is considered lost after 14 days of being due. At that point, the student must pay to have the book replaced. If a book is damaged or lost, parents will be notified and the student must pay to have the book replaced. If the item is later found and returned undamaged, the cost of the book is refunded, minus whatever late fees were accrued before the book was marked as lost. Parents are not exempt from overdue fines.
If a student is absent on the day the book is due, please contact the library on the due date and bring the book directly to the library for check in once the student returns to school. All other books are to be placed in the “Book Return” bin on the circulation desk.
Holding Materials: Students may place a hold on a book through the student’s account within the school's Accessit catalog. When the book is ready for pickup, an email will be sent to the homeroom teacher and the student.
Reference Materials and Magazines: Reference books, past yearbooks and materials may be used in the Library but require special permission to check out. Magazines cannot be checked out.
Elementary School Class Borrowing Schedule: Every week, every elementary class is given the chance to borrow books that interest them. This is when you can expect ES students to bring home books from the library.
