PROJECT 1: CREATURE CREATOR
Students get to mix and match references of animals to create their own fantastical creature. They will focus on shape, detail, texture, and a bit of animal anatomy while emphasizing creativity.

PROJECT 2: ABSTRACT EXPERIMENTATION
Students get to explore process and discover how materials work together, while trying to create a pleasing abstract design. Through masking and inter-working different materials, students will create a non-representational piece of art using design elements such as texture, color harmony, etc.

PROJECT 3: IMPRESSIONIST LANDSCAPE
Students get to harken back to artists like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh to paint landscapes with acrylic, not only to describe nature, but to capture the romantic, emotional qualities. They will learn how to let brushstrokes layer and have colors optically blend, and create “pintamente,” the quality of layered paint.
