Ciro Mennella, ICAR - CNR
is a contracted researcher at ICAR-CNR Institute with a PhD in artificial intelligence on health and life sciences with Campus Bio-Medico University, Rome, Italy. He has a multidisciplinary background spanning from medical to engineering and computer sciences. His research interests include the validation of new technologies for data-driven therapy approaches in rehabilitation medicine, AI for disease diagnosis and patient monitoring, machine learning for patient risk stratification and augmenting clinical workflows, robotic and digital therapeutic technologies, computer vision and pattern recognition analysis for motion monitoring and activity evaluation, multimodal and generative AI techniques.
Umberto Maniscalco, ICAR - CNR
received his PhD in Electrical, Communication and Computer Engineering from the University of Palermo in December 1998 and his Dr Ing. (Laurea) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Palermo in Novembre 1994. He currently is first technologist with the ICAR – CNR , from December 2001. He is currently heading the Human-Robot Interaction Group of ICAR. Since 2016 he has been responsible for the ICAR of the “robotics and automatics” and 'ICT Devices and Systems' project areas of the Engineering, ICT and technologies for energy and transportation Department (DIITET) of CNR. Since 2000 he has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at the faculty of Architecture, Engineering, and Communication. He has participated in several local, national and international research projects. His research involves the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to realize innovative solutions in the social robotic area and healthcare and well-being domains.
Lucia Cascone, UNISA
is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computer Science at the University of Salerno, Italy. Her research expertise encompasses applied mathematics, particularly in machine learning, biometrics, and computer vision. She obtained her M.Sc. in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, with her Ph.D. completed in 2023. Her academic contributions include numerous papers, she has played a role as a reviewer for international journals and conferences (in which she also has been a member of program committees). She has also held the position of guest editor for the journal 'Multimedia Tools and Applications'. Additionally, she was Program Chair for the 1st International Workshop on Synthetic Data for Computer Vision, organized as part of the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV 2024), a CORE Rank A* conference, held in Milan, Italy, from September 29 to October 4, 2024.
Aniello Minutolo, ICAR-CNR
received the M.Sc. degree in computer science engineering from the University of Naples ‘‘Federico II,’’ and the Ph.D. degree in information technology engineering from the University of Naples ‘‘Parthenope.’’ He is currently a Researcher with the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking of the National Research Council of Italy (ICAR-CNR). Since 2018, he has been a Contract Professor in informatics with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples 'Federico II'. His research interests include artificial intelligence, decision support systems, dialog systems, knowledge management, modeling, and reasoning. He has been involved in different national and European projects, he has been on the program committee of some international conferences and workshops and, moreover, is currently a member of the editorial board of some international journals.
Massimo Esposito, ICAR - CNR
received the M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in computer science engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, in March 2004, the master’s degree (Hons.), named European Master on Critical Networked Systems, in December 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in information technology engineering from the University of Naples, Parthenope, in April 2011. Since 2012, he has been a Contract Professor of informatics with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples Federico II. Since 2016, he has been responsible of the Laboratory Cognitive Systems, Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR), CNR, Italy. He is currently a Researcher with the ICAR, CNR. He has been involved in different national and European projects. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles on international journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include artificial intelligence (AI) and are focused on AI algorithms and techniques, mixing deep learning and knowledge-based technologies, for building intelligent systems able to converse, understand natural language and answer to questions. He is also a member of the editorial board of some international journals. He has been on the program committee of many international conferences and workshops.
