ROTC

Military Ball

On January 18th, 2019, the Robertsdale High School NJROTC held its 27th annual military ball. It was the biggest turn out since they started them in 1992. It was held at the Baldwin County EMC and catered by gooroos. The theme was under the sea, with white table cloths, dim lighting, small tea light candles with small plastic sea creatures, and 3 projectors playing a loop of a fish tank on the walls. Professional pictures could be taken in the lobby of the building for as cheap as 10 dollars. But don't let this mature mood fool you, because as kids arrived, the building became lively, and the dance floor full. Adults, students of all ages in ROTC and some guest of those students danced together, including some students who haven't met earlier. Among some of the guest there were not only all the ROTC instructors, along with Commander Starrs entire family, but also principle Sharp, which was the first time an administrator has come to an ROTC military ball. That, however, was not the only first at this military ball, the new staff was announced. Many students sat waiting in anticipation as names were called, and each new staff member stood proud in front of their battalion together for the first time. After that came senior call outs. Each ROTC senior gets their moment in the spotlight as their name is called and they are escorted out on the dance floor. The rest of the night was filled with laughter as everyone danced together on the ballroom floor. It was by far one of the most successful military balls NJROTC has ever had, but next year they will without a doubt, outdo themselves yet again.
