Senior Spotlight

Robertsdale High School's senior counselor, Mr.Taylor, has created a way for each senior to literally have their moment in the spotlight. The Senior Spotlight is a questionnaire that questions a selected senior about themselves, such as their past, their favorite memories, their future plans, advice for the younger classes, etc. It is posted on the school website and shown on the TVs around the school on a loop for all to see. It is a great way for our school to find out more about our senior class members and their thoughts they have about Robertsdale High School that have been accumulated over the past 4 years. If you are interested, email Mr. Taylor to see if you could have your moment in the spotlight!

Alabama's Rodeo Queen

Robertsdale native Ashleigh Clukey is the current Miss Alabama HS Rodeo Queen. The Rodeo Queen state finals are held every June with competitions state-wide. Competitions include speeches, interviews and impromptu questions. There is also a Horsemanship portion of the competition.

This is Clukey’s second time to win the title. She competes in barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, goat tying, cutting, and the Queen Competition. She competed in the national High School Rodeo Queen Competition in Wyoming this past July and was in the top 10. Way to go, Ashleigh!

Lacey Student Spotlight

Student rapper LaQuintin Dailey, 17, shared his story with his teacher Thersa Lacey. While talking to her, he touched on the subjects of his drive, his family, his school experiences, his inspiration, and his goals for the future.

When asked what drove him to begin creating music, Dailey said that he was bored one day and wanted to do something that would make his family proud of him. He began by just writing down how he felt about his family, sports, and school to represent himself. He then took that to the next level and made it into raps. He felt that he was able to do this because he has the talent and the drive.

His family is very supportive of the decision he has made to pursue a rap career for the future. As of now, he uses beats that he can find and mixes his own vocals over them to create his songs. Dailey is considering working with other students to create more, but currently, you can find his solo works on Soundcloud and GooglePlayMusic under the name “DaYounggiin.”

Go follow and show your support for your fellow student!
